Should Christians participate in the study and practice of martial arts? Is it a harmless hobby or activity for children to learn discipline, respect, gain self-esteem, and confidence? Or is there a dark side of martial arts that every Christian should be aware of before they participate in or encourage their children to participate in that type of activity?
There’s a two-part documentary on the early life of Eric Wilson, a man that was heavily involved in martial arts and attained black belts in several disciplines within that community. His story (testimony) is amazing and sheds some light on the dangers of martial arts for Christians. It makes the case for why Christians should not be involved in this type of activity.
We recently purchased the two-part DVD set produced by Little Light Studios and the back of the case says, “The Dragon Revealed lifts the veil on the true origins and roots of the martial arts. You will learn the long hidden secrets the masters and founders don’t want you to know! What or who gives these men and women the super natural abilities of strength and speed, infamous in the far east; and now becoming ever more prevalent in the west. What is the source of the extraordinary powers of mind and body that practitioners of Kung Fu, Karate, Aikido, Tai Chi and Yoga exhibit across the world? This film will open your eyes to the once esoteric arts and you will see what empowers those who practice these ancient arts. The Dragon is about to be revealed!”
You can buy the DVDs here for yourself if you wish. The production of the DVDs is superb. They did an amazing job of mixing traditional documentary style filming with movie-like qualities and Eric Wilson himself provides the voice over.
You can also watch the first video in this two-part series for free at the Little Light Studios YouTube page. Here is the video for your convenience.
